Janine Hickl is a versatile artist from Vienna who works internationally as an actress, singer, voice-over artist, and swing dancer. After completing her musical theater studies, she received her acting training in both London and Vienna.

Throughout her career, she has appeared in various film and television productions as well as theater plays and has been featured in campaigns, short films, and TV series. The short film Luna was selected as the winner of the London Independent Film Festival and the Across the Globe Film Festival in New York in 2021. Additionally, Janine was awarded Best Actress in a Leading Role by the Across the Globe Film Festival. In 2022, the short film Hysterical Sisters was nominated for Best Short Film at the Austrian Film Festival.

Musically, Janine discovered a deep passion for the swing genre. This dedication is evident in her performances as a singer with various ensembles as well as in her work as a swing dancer and instructor. With the swing trio The Reveilles, she brings the music of the Andrews Sisters back to life, while with the band Zazous and the British ensemble Rustique Musique, she regularly performs swing and soul classics on stage.

Beyond swing, she developed a profound enthusiasm for chansons. Inspired by the great artists of past decades, she interprets German and French chansons together with the team from Relic Music, striving to preserve these timeless musical treasures from being forgotten.

Since 2023, Janine has been touring internationally with her self-written play Nothing in Between – The Simple, Complicated Life of Hedy Lamarr, with performances in the United States, England, and Egypt. This monodrama tells the compelling biography of Hollywood actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr, who sought her place in a male-dominated world of film and science.

Janine portrays both Lamarr’s rise to fame and the personal and professional challenges she faced along the way.

With DIVAS – Les Grandes Dames de la Chanson, she has been exploring the world of chanson since 2024. Together with Bernd Leichtfried on piano and Maria Boneva on violin, she takes audiences on a musical journey through the history of chanson. From the sensual melodies of the golden age of film to the powerful anthems of the 1970s, this performance is a heartfelt tribute to the unforgettable voices that have shaped generations.

In addition to her work as an actress and singer, Janine is also active as a voice-over artist, lending her voice to international projects. A passionate swing dancer, she specializes in Lindy Hop in the L.A. Style and teaches this style in both Vienna and London.
